(it wouldent let me post this in the polls section so i'll post it here)

Looks like I may be in the market for a new ride. These are what I have been considering.

05-06 CBR 1000RR

05-06 GSXR 1000

04-05 GSXR 750

06 GSXR 750 (although I dont like the exhaust on the new model)

Things that I care about are reliability(I put a lot of miles on my bike), parts support, rideability(throttle is not a on/off switch), suspension.

What are your thoughts about these bikes and how do they compare in the above classes.

From you choices i would say go suzuki. The 1000rr would take some $ to make it on par with what you have listed.

Also 750 vs 1000 is a pretty big difference. What are you looking at doing? Street, track.. What are your asperations? A smaller bike will make you a better rider in a short amount of time so smaller is always better if you looking at improving your skills. Tell us what you like about the 750's and the 1000's. If you just want a pimp bike for the street, the 1000's are really sweet...

Oh, generally suzukis have the best out of the box suspension so thats something pretty important to keep in mind..

I started on a 600RR and yes I agree it does make you a better faster rider. I used my 600 for commuting to work durring the week and canyons on the weekend. I will still be doing that with the new bike as well as some track days (if the buy back from insurance is too much for my 600 ). If it is not too much it will probably become a track bike.

The 750 seemes to be the "best of both worlds" and I like that. It will probably be a bit cheaper to insure as well but I am a BIG GUY and I know I pushed the limits of my 600. I am mostly wanting the bigger displacement for my commuting and around town riding. The liter bike (GSXR) is only like $600 more than the 750 and I actually like the exhaust better on it than the buell-esk type on the new 750.

Also I know the seat on the GSXR is a lot more comfy than my 600RR was and my butt will like that.

Sounds like a liter bike if your not going to be doing a ton of track days. You'll be happy with whatever year you get im sure. I dunno about the 750 as i have not ridden one.. Have you ridden both the 750 and the 1k?

Well if you want a 750 or 1000, you better hurry up. I was the dealership to track my bike and the inventory on the 750 and 1000 is almost on brink of being sold out for 06.

I have not ridden either one. I'm hopping to get some feedback from those that have though.

Isn't that what all dealers usually say???

What?? Are you saying a dealership would lie to a customer?? What planet are you from:nutkick:

No, actually some salesman would actually tell that they have plenty available and just trade with another dealership. My friend showed whats available and they have gixxer 600's but a very limited amount of 750's and 1k's.

There is always the "slightly used" models that can be picked up from the first time rider who thought he could handle a liter bike but soiled his pants one too many times with in the first 2 months of owning the bike.

You might want to consider the comfort of the bike also since you said you will be using it for commuting. You said you were a bigger guy and suzuki's are typically smaller from seat to peg distance.
Personally, I would go with the 750 prbably best of both worlds.
Good luck

.....broaden your horizons, think outside the popularity box.....I'd have to say the option that failed to make your list would have to be the greatest.....dump-tada-dum....the 2006 Yamaha YZF R6!!!!!!!!! Although the best way to make a clear decision is to go to your dealer of choice and ask to test ride them all (a dealership let me do that, and I was just a silly girl who had a borrowed motocross helmet.) Good luck:cheers:

both bikes have very large aftermarket support

I haven't ridden any of the bikes, but from what I hear and read, the 1000rr has great suspension and stability

throttle twitchiness and suspension can always be improved by aftermarket parts or service (remap and suspension service)

i would give honda the upper hand in reliability -- you don't see any broken 1000rr frames :D

Brenden, I would definitely get either liter bikes...you definitely were riding the wheels off that six hundy...I would go with whatever ergo you feel most comfortable with...the gixxer 1k does have a slipper though...other than that you cant go wrong....then again...who shifts when you are on a liter bike anyways

I dont know of any shop that will let you test drive/ride. Maybe if you put a full deposite down.

The 06 R6 in my opinion is useless unless on the track. There is just no torque/ power unless you are spinning above 9K. Thats not what I want when I am commuting on it to work.

I sure would love to have a slipper clutch. Anyone hear if Honda is going to put one in the 1000RR for 07? That sure would be nice.

Honda- stability, reliability
Suzuki- power, slipper clutch, a ton of parts support
This just isn't easy. I think I'm going to have to sit on them again for the ergos comparison. Maybe I can bum a little test ride from a friend on his GSXR 1K. (when I'm completly healed)

so far I'm diggin my 750:guitar:

the power starts at lower revs than a 600 and is more useable than 1000cc bikes i've ridden. suspension feels solid, as do the brakes. I've only put about 440 miles on it so far though. will be at Buttonwillow on monday, so I'll let you know how it feels after a full day of riding.

Reliability for the hondas may be true. However, they are the slowest out of the rest and all around just a tad weaker. Read the reviews of all the bikes, they all put the RR's at the bottom.

I would consider selling my bike if you have any interest in an 04 CBR 1000RR

Let me know.
