holy frick!
My friend just had his Integra stolen from his driveway last night. Funny thing is that the ECU fuse is pulled, and the exhaust is really loud. The theives must have rolled it down the hill... pretty sharp...

Weird! Its not like you can part it out on ebay or something.
I bet right now there are two 18 year old punk kids in the middle of nowhere practicing wheelies on a million dollars worth of equipment.

his bikes were recovered, today I think. A tip to police helped find the location of the bikes.

Shakey’s race bikes recovered
RIZLA SUZUKI has recovered both of Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne’s stolen GSX-R1000 race bikes.
Working in conjunction with the North Yorkshire police, the team received information leading to the whereabouts of the bikes which were stolen on Tuesday night from a locked garage at the Croft circuit.
The bikes were safely recovered on Wednesday and one was used by Shakey during the afternoon test session.
Rizla Suzuki Team Manager Robert Wicks said: “The team is delighted to have the bikes back in its possession.
“The theft has cost the team dearly, not least because of the development time lost by Shakey. It has also raised serious questions regarding circuit security at Croft and we will be working closely with the BSB organizers to make sure this cannot happen to us or any other team in the future.
“I would like to thank all the members of the media and the fans of the series who lent us their support after the bikes were stolen. I can promise you that Rizla Suzuki will be stronger as a result of this and we are already looking forward to getting back to the racing at Knockhill next week.”

of course when the bikes are that renown, and worth so much, the cops put so much more effort in. I don't think I've ever heard of bikes getting recovered. Of course, it's probably because we're in the US and that was in the UK.

Bike theft and subsequent recovery isn't as bad in the UK (heck, they aren't exactly 25 minutes from a road crossing over an international border like S.D), but it's still a major issue.
It's still pretty bad though. I used to use a disc lock and also run a chain thru the frame (between the V in my old SV's motor) and lock it to an eye bolt that was concreted into the garage floor. That was on top of my alarm/immobiliser. That was all just to get a sensible insurance quote. So, yeah, theft is an epidemic. :errf:
Thieving bastards.

I'm planning on getting an 02-03 R1 also, wonder what insurance will quote me for that being under 25, probably as much as the bike is worth :(

if you've been riding for some time, no moving violations and have an M1 license then it shouldn't be that much.

only like a couple years, but yes on everything else. I also need to get full coverage with a bike like that, no question about it.
