Sooo just out of curiosity, why can't we edit our own posts for longer than 30 or 60 minutes?
I do at times change my mind and think that I should not have said something. I mean I'm not the president. I do acknowledge that I could have at one point been wrong and then opt to change my mind.
Also...
If you're trying to correct typographical errors after the fact, you can't.
If you're trying to change the time a ride is meeting on the frist post of the thread two days after you started it, you can't.
If you want to change the route of a ride, you can't.
If you want to change the meeting place of a ride, you can't.
If you want to change the time we're going to Pizza Port on Thursday, you can't.
If you accidentally enter the wrong date and weekday combination on the subject line of your thread, then realize that it's messed up three hours later and you want to change it, you can't. Example: "Ride Sunday July 7, 2006." Everyone is going dude Sunday ain't on the 7th, and as Hypercycles currently has it, you're locked into looking like a moron for eternity.
Then again I do find the not being able to edit posts feature useful. For instance if someone says "I never said that" then you can go and look up the post where they did say that and then quote it and they're helpless to change it. Not that I've ever done that.
So while the post edit lockdown of 2006 is not without its benefits, I am proposing a longer cool down period.
I am proposing a new limit of 7 days. That would give you plenty of time to change your mind about something, be it an off color comment, a ride route, or what you want for dinner with the homies that particular night, before it is locked into Hypercycles history.
