Seeing that Buymoto.com had a nice deal on the Sliders, Spidi sounds like an investment!
I like my A Star suit better than my FT suit because it feels like the construction is a little better thought out. ... but I've always wanted to try Vanson, though I think they are out of my price range.
Never understood the fascination with Z Custom. If they custom make every piece for your individual measurements then why do 4 out 5 suits look like they are super baggy. Plus most of them are hideous on top of that.

Well, talking to Turn9-N8 on the SCS board, I guess RS Taichi distributor is located in Torrance. He said to give Darrin a call and you can head up there and try 'em on. He also states that the feel and armor is 2nd II None! I wanna hear feed back from Mr. BK about his Spidi suit because that's my plan B!

Spidi's.. have saved my life and my hide 4 times. From slowest speeds of 70mph to fastest speeds of 120mph+.. they've held up strong and never let me down and have NEVER worn through and all critical seems stayed together. I've went down three times on my first Spidi suit (Russel Replica) and once on my current suit (Slider Pro) and they held up extremely well. You've seen my leathers on various rides.... Spidi's to me fit really well. They have by far one of the most supple yet highly protective leathers available. Their armor is a mix of hard armor and dual density foam. Their newest suits have been extremely thoughtfully designed with stretch areas in all the right places. I can't wait to get my next SPIDI suit actually... it's either Spidi or a custom suit for me. I also think that their designs are some of the nicest designs around (colors, patterns, etc).
I've tried on Teknic suits.. well.. all i can say is Yuck... not sure if they improved their line but their leatheres didn't hold up too well in crashes either from what I saw.. .but the Teknic Speedstar gloves are amazing!! They are definately not one of the most comfortable gloves out on the market but damn... they sure do protect your hands! I've never had a scratch on my hands even after sliding at high speeds. Since the seems are on the inside (for protection), they are less likely to come apart than gloves that have seams on the outside (for comfort).
AGV was pretty much the same as Teknic...
Dianese felt pretty good but I never had to crash test a set.. but a friend of mine did. His Dianese suit's hard plastic armor caused the knee, shoulder and elbow areas to wear through extremely fast. But the did provide him with good protectoin after he looped his bike....
Hope this helps a little. me getting sleeeeepyyy...zzzz...:errf:

I have crashed in my A Stars gear, not my suit, but jacket, gloves and boots and got away with no scratches. I think Alpinestars is a very cost-effective solution when it comes to motorcycle gear.

My A-star jacket was completely shredded after my 65+ MPH get off (I guess that is "standing still speed" in Bryant's terms ;) ). I am hoping to get Z-custom leathers when the time comes and I can afford them. My frame is thin, so it is hard to find leathers my size. A-stars are a good fit. Spidi is not snug on me. Custom seems the way for me to go.

My spidi suit held up good when I went down in T1 at the big track a while back at a race weekend. I know Bryant's 1st (russell) leathers took a lot of beating and still is good too. Battle proven stuff, those things...

I went to HoM last weekend and saw some Fieldsheer leathers with CE approved armor at great prices. $200 for the jackets and $500 for the 1-piece suits. I had never heard of this brand. Has anyone else? Is it any good? Any stories of crash testing? I was thinking of an A-star 2-piece, but at this price it seems like I might get more for my money with Fieldsheer.

Fieldsheer has been around for awhile...never had any experience with them personally, but I have not heard any stellar reviews...I would go with SPIDI or astars

anyone know what kind of warranty A*s have on their jackets?
Trouble with Spidi is that the stomach and butt area are pretty loose......it won't affect your riding, but I don't want to go around looking like a diaper butt. But if you don't care about that, or if you're kinda pudgy in the middle, go for it. They are good looking suits.
If on the other hand you have a V-shaped (athletic) profile, get Joe Rocket.
Teknic in my experience is teh sux0rs.........it's too long and skinny, and the leather isn't as supple. Their Speedstar suit is supposedly really good, but I haven't seen one.

A-star. Great product for the price. I have no complaints about my TZ-1 A-star one piece leathers...
RS-Taichi has the best-quality leather, IMO
