View Full Version : Common it's just a quick tire question

My M1 rear is shot and I want to ride. My Diablo front is going to take forever to arrive. Should I just buy a Diablo front and have an extra one (don't really want to). Or can I run a new Diablo with my old M1 for a god 3-4 weeks. My front should make it that long.


Please give some honest feedback. I will be riding the twisties and would rather shell out the cash then throw off the equilibrium of the bikes set up. It just appears that they are ALMOST the same tire and if I can get away with it I wopuld like to hold out.

I'm still panting from my last post, but I've been mixing tires for a few weeks. Had a Diablo rear and a Battlax BT012 front. If your just commuting it's OK, but I would definitely not reccommend it for spirited riding. I'm not a great rider and I could easily tell there was a difference between the two.

Most of the difference was that the front was a little squared and the rear had a nice round profile. They just made the front and rear seem very disconnected and I had no confidence in it. Just felt like the rear was doing something totally different than the front.

You can do it, but don't go railing the thing. I guess it would also depend which tires your mixing, too.

What's your comfort level with riding? I rode with a BT020 rear and went through about three D208 fronts with no adverse affect. I usually ride within 5 MPH of posted speed limits in the twisties. My own ride is one that is always in control and never at a point where tires play a big factor.

the tires may be similar...not 100% sure.......

the diablo and the M1 are the same tire, different tread pattern thats all.

Thanks for the replies! Looks like I'll make it until the Diablo front arrives. If it feels like crap than I'll buy one sooner.

Hmmmm if your still around Carlos give me a PM. We might be able to work something out.
