cleaning the plastics is pretty self explanatory...I use plexus and a microfiber towell

You should also clean your chain, lube/wax it, check bolts and fasteners, clean anything that's dirty, and check your fluids. I don't do a whole preop of my bike every time I ride, so I basically do it when I clean.

Washer down real quick with water to get the grimey and mud and dirt off. dry off. SPRAY WITH HONDA SPRAY POLISH!!!!!! wipe off. LOOK PRETTY!

be really careful not to get water into either the ram air or the exhaust.

Yeah im new to cleaning the bike game. I was also wondering about an oil change. how much is the average cost if i wanted to do it myself? what do I need? and how difficult is it? I can change the oil on my car but on a bike? Or if anyone out there was planning on doing theirs sometime soon maybe I could meet up and see for myself or do it there? Of course I'd buy what I need.

Sorry for so many questions.

Just looking for some friendly help

Where can I get Honda Spray polish? What is plexus? where can i get it and how much?

you can wash your bike just like a car if you want or you can use the different polish sprays. the bike is made to be outside in rain or shine, dont be affraid to spray it with a hose and soap it up

Usually won't take more than what came in your bikes tool kit. Drain the oil out the bottom of the pan. Take off your filter...takes a filter wrench or jam a screwdriver through it. Put on a new filter, install the plug, fill her with oil, run it, and check the level.

honda polish isnt sold anymore...at least not in california. plexus is another spray cleaner.

Its something with the aerosol messing up the OZone or something. You can still order it online from shops who have plenty left over.

If you change the oil in your car than you'll have no problem with your bike. It's way easier!

A good sruba-dub-dub with Mr. Clean and his friend Dawn (use apple scent for best results).....make sure no spot goes unnoticed. Always good to put the hose in the end of the exhaust can for a good flushin', then make sure to dry it out with something flamable (if time is an issue) then light a match. If you have the time, you could use a hair dryer. Then once you're done, if you want your baby to really shine, hit those tires with some good ol' Armor All. Then, well..........Shake & Bake man:thumbsup:

Ahhh let's see here cleaning your bike. Well I am the village expert on such a subject so I figure I'd spray some k-nowledge.

The best way to maintain the visual appearance of your bike is to wipe it down immediately before and after riding. I prefer the use of Honda polish for the color plastic parts and plexus for anything that is clear such as your windscreen. This type of routine cleaning is IMPERATIVE!!!!

About once a week (depending on how much you ride) I do a full soap wash. This is not an easy process but hey I love my bike!

I find it best to start with the wheels/suspension areas as they tend to pick up the most dirt and require the harshest chemicals to properly clean.

Wheels:
I went through the gamut sampling the latest and greatest from the likes of Turtle Wax, Mothers, Meguiars, Black Magic, etc, and I always came back to the Eagle One All Wheel and Tire Cleaner (http://www.eagleone.com/pages/products/product.asp?itemid=1003&cat=5006) This stuff gets the grime to just literally drip off the wheels. It is amazing how much dirt is in there that you don't see.

Motor:
I like to use some of the eagle one with a soft bristle tooth brush to get that area to the rear of the motor about where your rear shock it. Rocks just love to chill in there and they drive me insane!!!!!

Body Panels:
After doing the full run of product research of the offerings from Turtle Wax, Mothers, Black Magic, Eagle One, Armor All, etc. I determined Meguiar's "Gold Class" Car Wash (http://www.meguiars.com/?car-washes/Gold-Class-Car-Wash-Shampoo-Conditioner) to work the best on the body of the bike. Some of the other washes left a light haze (especially Turtle Wax!!!) that I about went nuts over. Black Magic is too oily and doesn't rinse properly and it gives you these weird "shine spots" as I call 'em. Trickly lil' bastids for sure.

Now the wash is only as good as the application, so make sure your applicators and drying materials are up to par. NEVER and I mean NEVER use paper toewels. I die when I see people doing this. Can we say spiderweb swirls!?

To wash I use the Cal Car Cover "Supersponge" (http://www.calcarcover.com/product.aspx?id=1633&cid=99) I have found that this micro fiber cloth is the least abrasive to your bike's easily scuffed surface.

Drying:
Once I have completed the wash I dry the bike using two separate methods.
First I bought a low power leaf blower and I added my own air filter to it. I did this to ensure no particles would go flying at my bike at Mach 2. This is nice because your bike has all of these nooks and crannies in it. Using the leaf blower you can gently get the water out of the bolts, buts and little crevices you could only have dreamed of before. I use This Leaf Blower (http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?cat=Power+Lawn+Equipment&pid=07179496000&vertical=LAWN&subcat=Blowers&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes)

After my initial leaf blower move, most of the water is gone and it is time to do a thorough dry. I prefer a product called "The Absorber" (http://cleantools.net/website/inner.aspx?pg=../productDesc.aspx?pid=3&desc=../website/htm/the_absorber.htm) Terry cloths and chamois cannot touch it. I have never found a more absorbing piece of material anywhere.

So that’s my little weekly fun. About once a month I simply take off all the body panels and take them up to my living room, throw in a move or go buy a new CD and just go to town for a few hours. This is a great time to change your oil and what not as well. Ahhhh let’s go riding soon!

Changed my oil this afternoon. It just sucks taking off the plastics cause of all the screws. Honda Polish isn't sold anymore? Thats crap. My buddy had some so I used his can. \

Armor All on tires? Isn't that a bad idea for a bike?

Ehhh the screws on you rbike aren't that bad, I have the same one. Try doing it with a Honda.... instead of having two types of screws like you do with the Yamaha.... you have 24 different kinds.

yes Armor All on the tires a terrible idea... stuff is slippery. Even the eagle one stuff I mentioned above is slippery... do not use anythign on the tires... just let them be. I was speaking of the rims.

I saw it last night... you couldn't even tell it was green save for the tank area. Honestly. Clean your stuff man!

You truly are the king of wishful thinking.

Interest? You're cetainly interested in passing me... and that my friend is a shame....

You know I wished I could say I can't wait to be seeing lots of you tomorrow... but you see the fact of the matter is that we're required to remove our mirrors.... so while you're back there listening to the business end of my R6 and smelling the stink of my sweet victory... I will be oblivious to your existence. And you'll be ummm shall we say GREEN? Kinda like this guy... :fart:

Since 4 or 5 months ago, at least in CA and 8 other states thanks to the EPA. You can still order it from Ron Ayers from what I hear, but we can't get it here. Supposedly Honda is coming out with a "new formula" soon, which means it will suck.
