Axle is still attached to the car...must be they forgot to bolt the wheels on...unless all the lugs snapped at once...

Here is my theory. I think the rear tires were to big for the body. So when he got on the power, the rear end sank and the tires hit the body, caught and ripped the wheels off the axles...
