Hey All,

I'm looking to do a chill ride starting in La Jolla through Mt. Soledad to PB, Mission Beach and getting down to Coronado. Kick off will be at 9:30 AM meeting at the Mobil over by UCSD on La Jolla Village Drive. If anybody is interested, please post up.

Dude I walked past that place for the first time the other day... any good?... Can it compare to Pizza Port!?

I also wanted to try that 50's Diner... I think it is called Beach N Diner as well. I have a thing for the 1950's.

Chuck are you talking about the small diner right across the street from Vons? If we're talking about the same one, I've ate there and it's pretty good. Have you gone to Corvettes in Hill Crest?

its not pizza port good... but its good given the fact you're in coronado and don't have pizzaport around...

they have a great white sauce pizza... that i can't remember the name to.. its a type of margherita

never been to that 50s diner, but i went to the studio diner in clairemont with
eireann craziness and travolin... which was pretty chill.. and shiny...

Yeah I go to the studio diner once every other month or so with one of my coworkers. It's s'alright. I have been longing for a hold the phone, call the press, stop my heart (literally :) ) 50's diner but I have had lackluster results at best. ::snaps fingers::... my search continues....

not to jack the thread.. but diners need to have...

1)pie 24 hrs a day
2)soda jerk
3)waitresses dressed in pink uniforms that call you "darlin'" or "honey"
4)nickel jukeboxes

Oh oh oh I think my Ninja might actually be ready to ride again by this weekend, so I should be able to join you! I need to get reacquainted with it again before SOW next weekend anyway...

Will we be back in time to watch MotoGP at 1PM? :nerd: Or, if you guys want to head over to my place in Carmel Valley afterwards, we can watch it live (or on TiVo) and BBQ!

Is this squid run going to include The Mission Beach Race Circuit? Also, along with minimal gear, is everyone going to be sporting fur on bikes, and animal ears on helmets? If so, count me in!

Animal ears on helmets!

The first time I saw that I nearly collapsed in laughter. Then I thought about Frosted Flakes commercials because the guy on Palomar had tiger ears.

*Bump* for Greg.

I'm surprise of the lack of interest the other riders (especially newbie's) have for this ride. People are always talking about being ready to ride whenever possible....so here's a ride I recomend not missing out on. It might not be Telegraph or Palomar, but I HIGHLY recomend coming out for this ride. Not only do you get to meet and hang out with other fellow HC members, but Greg  is leading this ride. He's one of the safest guys you can ride with, not only that, but when I was following him, Mikey said my lines improved by 1000x. for Greg.

I can't make it because my family's going to be in town, but they're leaving Sunday around noon. Depending on what time you guys end up in Coronado, or stop for lunch, I might be able to join you then.

Sounds like a good ride. I'm in.

Last time I went to Coronado I was too lazy to find a place to park the bike without having to pay, so it might be nice to actually stop and see the place.

Jen, Mikey says make sure there's coolant in your bike.

Greg, are we taking a super long route around town that doesn't include freeway? I might want to take Cooper out.

And great riding with everyone today. It was nice meeting you Jason, and seeing familar faces again today, Greg, Jen, Tony and Dave. You don't have to apologize for going slow (I guess by slow we mean the speed limit). In fact, I admire your restraint. It's too easy to go too fast, even on our little Ninjas.

As for '50's diner's service? I'll leave it to Caesar for a review:

Our waitress didn't come by for about 10 minutes to get our orders until she realized that our table was one that she was supposed to wait on (she was talking with another waitress about this). Once she realized it, she just walked on by and came back a few minutes later. Our drinks were never refilled and Dave ordered a small orange juice but the waitress brought a large and charged him for it.

We layed our helmets on the ground near a door which had a sign posted stating "Please use the other door". Space was really tight in the place. A waitress came through that door and knocked a few of our helmets and proceeded to complain that the area was too crowded.

"Like, it's not cool to put stuff there" -- perfect justification for swinging the door into our helmets.

Thanks all for a great time today! Yeah, prolly won't be going back to that diner... unless it's on a day where the meters aren't enforced and I feel like sitting around for awhile before eating. Oh yeah, and if I want lunch I'll need to remember to go at NOON even though the menu says breakfast is served only til 11:30. *sigh* At least the food looked pretty good, and the portions were really big - Dave's "short stack" pancakes were a foot in diameter!

I guess the search for a good 50s diner goes on...

Melandri followed by Vermeulen and Rossi. Hayden finished 5th after Gibernau, and poor Dani Pedrosa got lapped by a couple of people and ended up finishing 15th. It was a great race!

Beach N' Diner (play on words for B!tchen)... more like Beach E' Diner...

Wow.... sorry about the crap diner review. :errf: I'm infatuated with the 1950's so I like that whole vibe but that place is dispicable.

A few of us went there on Saturday afternoon. And were met with a similar experience featuring the worst of the worst in service. We had an extremely rude waiting staff, slow service, and just ok food. It's unfortuante that this is apparently the norm for this establishment rathe rthan the exception.

The staff's best moment was when the rest of my group jokingly ousted me for eating my food before everyone else had been served and the waitress from 10 feet away snapped "She only has two hands and can only carry so much." I was confused because we had not even suggested we had a problem to her. Accordingly, we stiffed 'em on the tip, something I'm never a fan of and have only done once before. Never going there again.

I understand people have bad days but dang, it was contagious at this place.

From looking at their website, it appears that Beach N' Diner, Mootime Ice Cream, and Villge Pizza are also owned, managed, or at least affilitated with each other. I cannot say I'm the least bit excited about trying out any of these other places as a result. If they're not affiliated that shows the danger in associating yourself with neighboring businesses who may suck.

Ahhh but it looked so cool!!!! So Grim... the search continues
