So I get the picture below from my buddy, Edman, where he tells me that there's a consensus between him and some other riders that they all believe I'm looking down instead of through the turn. I know I'm looking through the turn when I'm riding, but of course, the dark shield doesn't show this. Anyone have an opinion on whether I should bring my head up more? BTW, the arrows and comments were already on the picture...This is what I have to deal with at work all day long.

You are doing it just like Rossi. He doesn't turn his head all the way, but instead uses his peripherals (less drag I guess-hell what do I know).

i do the same thing most of the time... i only look up to the next corner once my line is set in the one i am in..in most corners i am looking about 3-6feet infront of the bike until way past the apex...help me know if i need to let off or roll on more throttle. not saying it is right but it works pretty good for me.

The body position war begins again!
First off, as many an argument in the past has proven, body position matters only in the fact that as long as your comfortable, that's all that matters! As long as you've got the basics covered, leaning the right way, looking into the turn, etc, your covered!
As far as your particular positioning goes, I think it looks great! I know for a fact both Jason(Shaggy) and I do the exact same thing with our heads. also, there is another very fast rider who holds his head that way, in fact he's who I coppied! His initials are V.R.!

Good info, guys. I know I'm using my peripheral vision through some turns, but I do try to turn my head as much as possible...especially like in the bowl at Streets. Pictures just seem to paint a different picture.

i try to turn my head as far through the turn as i can.
i find that when i don't, i'm usually clenching up (bunghole) and being stiff...
instead of being relaxed. looking through the turn helps me relax.

I think you're the only one with the proper head position in that pic. Also the funny thing is that Rossi doesn't look through the turn. He actually looks at the ground right in front of him. I remember reading somewhere that he was saying why look through the turn? He knows where he is going to exit as long as he hits his marks right in front of him. This may work for him, but not everyone. I have a habit of looking right in front of me as well, but I am fast when I look through the turn. The sense of speed is slowed down a lot when you look through the turn. Just remember kiss those mirrors! ok now a shameless pic of me. One of my favorites, just wish it was at the track!

The important question here is: are you faster than those who mock your style?
If it works for you, go with it!

I learned to stop listening to other people on body positioning when i got slower by trying what they said. I was more comfortable my way, and i still had the basics applied.

Nice pic, Jiggy. Looks perfect.
I wouldn't say I'm necessarily slower than the guys who mock me, Tiff, even while they're all on cheater liter bikes, as I can hold my own (depending on whether my bike is running right or not - damn Ducs). I will say, however, that I'm a helluva lot sexier than them.

(beatbox in the background)
While they're faster than me
that's undoubtedly true
But what you forgot to mention
is they're faster than you too
So don't come at me
like you got some rhymes
go to Fontucky instead
and let's check our times
although 2 cylinders
is all I use
Come out in October
and I'll show you the juice
(scratch, scratch, cut...scratch, scratch, cut)
P.S. Sick pic!

That's beautiful! :guitar:
And being fast is right up there with looking sexy, so if you have either, feel free to keep staring at the ground:cheers:

If you're slow, I must be going backwards on the track. Stupid is as stupid does. And you're definitely not ugly...unlike the girl this guy's with:

Your head position looks fine...I think it's the visor. This is my teammate and I...I'm in the front with the dark visor and david siminski is behind with the clear so you can see where he is looking in the same position.
