I'm new here to this forum and just wanted to tell you about my route to Santa Ysabel. I start off going up through Wildcat Canyaon Rd. the road that leads to Barona. When theres no CASINO traffic it can be a blast.... take that road all the way to the end. Make a right at the light and wind through Country Estates following the signs to Romona. After clearing Country Estates make a right a Old Julian Hwy., this is where the fun begin. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the tight side of Palomar its a 5er. Starts off slow then it gets a little tight, then theres a 20mph loop which can be fun. after that theres a series of switch backs, after you clear that make a right which leads you to Santa Ysabel. I usually stop off there for a hydrating beverage and a menthol cigarette. From there it depends on how I feel, I could go up to Julian then onto Sunrise Hwy. Or take 76 to Lake Henshaw onto the East Grade 14 mile climb to the top of Palomar. Or sometimes I'm lazy and just turn around and ride home. Either way I have fun and try not to ride over my head.
I only ride on the weekdays cause I have the weekend shift at House of Motorcycles. Most if not all the time I'm the only one on the road and not pass a single cycle.
hope this wasn't too long thanks.

it's a great route... just keep in mind that wildcat canyon has been labeled " the most dangerous road in san diego country" for a reason.
it's a great road non the less!
