anyone kno of a good parking lot where someone could say... practice various techniques..... and by that i mean, safety techniques. i just want to keep it away from ppl and other vehicles. I'm in UCSD, so the closer the better.

catch up with the groups that practice "various" techniques. most of them hang out in the industrial parks after hours. less hassle... i didn't say NO hassle

Take Torrey Pines south and bust a right on Callan Rd. (across from the golf course lodge). There's a bunch of buildings with some nice empty parking lots on the weekends.

Just bust out a 12 oclock on the freeway. When you get down to County and are being shown to your cell, just yell out, "Yo Yo, where my icy hot stuntaz be at?!"
Do a little mock "vroom vroom" with your throttle hand while you say it.
Good place to find 'em :ha:
Just messin: Scripps Poway, or Sorrento Mesa. Just look for imports and bikes and follow them. You'll find it.

There are more than a few empty lots on campus that I've used on the weekends before. Of course I actually used them to practice safety techniques, not "safety techniques". Good luck.

First of all, I would not practice in a parking lot. You'd be surprised how many people have crashed while trying to practice in a parking lot. The asphalt in a parking lot is not as gripy as you think. If these "various techniques" can not be taught in a MSF course, then I'd sign up in a school that can teach you the proper techniques needed in a closed course environment. Good luck!

Be careful when you practice in the parking lots...there are usually tons of spots where cars have leaked oil or radiator fluid.
Props though for looking for someplace away from traffic and people to practice.

Well, if by safety techniques you really mean finding a good place to work on fast braking - then to be honest Gilman is a good bet on Saturday mornings around 6-8am. During the week its a busy road, but on weekends its pretty clear - and early mornings on weekends its deserted.
Just make sure to give a check behind you every time you prepare to brake!
The actual speed limit there is 45 i believe, and thats more than fast enough to work on initial wiegh transfers to the front end etc. I spent many a Sat morning our there working on braking, even upwards of 70mph - thats pretty much how fast traffic regularly drives on that road anyway.
Of course if your are really looking to make controlled freeway stops from 100+ then I suggest you pay for a track school day.
Hope that helps.

There a nice spot in my warehouse complex, is it illegal to stunt on private property?

I'm from a little up north but my experience is a positive overall. I say stay very, very far from any... any... residential and schools. sounds like common sense but you might be suprised where some apt. bldgs and schools can be. We had a city guy (po po) come by an industrial area far from civilization and one of the guys who, uh... stuck around said the cop stopped and said he wasnt there to bust, just watch. Kinda cool but now I wonder if that dude is under cover!?!?!?!?

Regents lots! There's one parking lot where no cars park. The UCSD shuttle drivers even do their parallel parking practice there. There's a lot of space to do whatever you want. You'll probably see some tire marks there from cars doing 360's. Just watch out for campus police.

i doubt he was under cover.
while it's still private property, they'd prefer you doing your thing there than say on the 15
and so would the general public

just make sure you don't practice any "safety techniques" that require draggin knee, parking lots are the worst place for that.
